He will return to Glamorgan following a little sabbatical in time for the World Test Championship final against South Africa.

Labuschagne will start over after the season with the fewest runs scored.

After his slowest run-scoring summer, Marnus Labuschagne will take a break before playing English county cricket in an attempt to regain his best form.

Prior to Australia’s June match against South Africa in the World Test Championship final, Marnus Labuschagne will play for Glamorgan once again. Labuschagne didn’t make a century in 2024–25 Test cricket and averaged 25.63, his lowest result since his 2018 Test debut.

According to Marnus Labuschagne, “It has been a little bit of a whirlwind,” “I have played some really good innings here and there, I have just probably not nailed it as much as I would have liked.”

In the Sheffield Shield final, Labuschagne led Queensland to a four-wicket defeat at the hands of South Australia.

Additionally, the 30-year-old said his dismissals in the Adelaide final summed up his summer. His career Test average has dropped to 46.76.

Marnus was caught when flicking to leg gully after falling for a leg-side trap for a first-innings duck. After settling comfortably on 61 in the second, he attempted a half-hearted swipe at a short ball and was caught at deep square leg.

“That dismissal, if I am playing my best I am not making those errors,” he stated.

Marnus made significant runs of 70 and 72 in Melbourne’s Boxing Day Test during the home Test series against India. However, his other scores of 12, 1, 2, and 6 against the Indians were pitiful. He scored 20 runs at 4 and 26 not out in the two-Test away series in Sri Lanka.

Given the impending return of Cameron Green from injury, the rise of Nathan McSweeney, SA’s victorious Shield captain, Josh Inglis’ century on Test debut, and the ascent of opener Sam Konstas, some commentators think their returns could jeopardise Marnus Labuschagne Test berth. However, Labuschagne claimed that his summer wasn’t entirely depressing.

“There’s a lot to like about how I played and how I went about it,” he stated. “But just to get back to my best where I’m scoring hundreds, I am one of those players that just want to continue to grow and learn and keep finding that form.”
