Australia ODI comeback is a possibility following Glenn Maxwell's return from injury.

Glenn Maxwell made a sensational return to competitive cricket, slamming a fifty in his first match since suffering a leg fracture in November 2022 at a friend’s party.

The white-ball specialist, who lost three months of cricket owing to injury, scored 61 runs off 92 balls over the weekend for his club team, Fitzroy-Doncaster, in a Victorian Premier Cricket match.

After being down to 3/18 in their run chase for 215 runs against Kingston Hawthorn, the powerful hitter guided his team to a thrilling two-wicket victory.

“Bringing a player of Glenn’s calibre into the group is exciting. He has a great record in Shield cricket, so it’s a shame he hasn’t been able to play more of it.

Glenn Maxwell’s return to form has put him in the running for selection for the March ODI series against India.

If Maxwell can demonstrate his fitness, he may be considered for the forthcoming three one-day internationals against India next month, according to cricket.com.au.

Due to his injury, Maxwell was unable to participate in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, in which Australia is competing against India in a four-match Test series.

Nonetheless, his return to form and fitness could result in his return to international cricket in the near future.

Bowling fitness is presently being evaluated

Maxwell’s return to the field was important to his team’s victory in the Victorian Premier Cricket match, as his crucial knock helped to stabilise the innings. Over his innings, he hit two sixes and five fours.

The all-rounder did not bowl, and his bowling condition is still being evaluated prior to Monday’s Marsh Sheffield Shield match between Victoria and South Australia.

Fans and cricket fanatics alike have anxiously anticipated the 34-year-old’s return, with many hoping to see the dynamic all-rounder return to his explosive best. The Australian side will be hoping that Maxwell’s outstanding form with the bat continues and that he can give a much-needed punch in the middle order as the ODI series against India approaches.
