In between the current IPL 2025, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), the highest cricketing authority in India, is probably going to make the central contract announcement for the next season. In the past, the Board would announce the contract prior to the event commencing.
However, Gautam Gambhir’s absence has prevented the meeting with the Indian team management from happening yet. The head coach hasn’t had time to meet with the board members because of personal obligations. It was also disclosed that the members of the selection committee hold differing opinions over the prospects of several prominent Indian athletes. Consequently, the Indian board may make some difficult decisions about the new central contract.
The Times of India reports that top players like Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli might not be included in the elite Grade A+ contract. Additionally, it was said that players who perform well in all three formats had the best chance of landing the top deal. It’s interesting to note that the three players’ withdrawal from the T20I format may have had an impact on their decision.
Before the Test series in England begins, the BCCI may fire fielding coach T Dilip and assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, according to Dainik Jagran. Several reports indicate that the board is thinking about reorganizing the team’s support staff for the next series, even though no formal announcement has been made.
Notably, head coach Gautam Gambhir, top selector Ajit Agarkar, and BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia are scheduled to meet in Guwahati on March 29. Ryan ten Doeschate and Abhishek Nayar are the head coach’s two assistant coaches. The Board appointed Sitanshu Kotak as the team’s batting coach after they suffered a few of defeats in the previous season.
Fielding coach T Dilip’s position is uncertain as BCCI reduces support staff.
A team doctor, a security and operations manager, a computer analyst, three throwdown specialists, two massage therapists, a senior and a junior physiotherapist, one coaching head, two assistants, one batting, one bowling, one fielding, and a few logistical and media managers make up the Indian team’s jumbo staff. According to reports, the Board intends to disband the team and retain the employees who are making the team successful.
It’s interesting to note that the Board probably plans to eliminate the support staff roles. T Dilip has been a member of the team for the past three years. Ryan ten Doeschate can fill in as the fielding coach in his stead. There has not yet been a formal announcement on this.
