The BCCI has approved fast bowler Avesh Khan to play in the 2025 Indian Premier League, which is good news for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). According to ESPNcricinfo, Avesh, who had been battling a right knee issue, received the all-clear from the BCCI medical staff this week and will shortly be joining the LSG team.
Avesh Khan hasn’t played since late January; he last played for India in a Twenty20 International in South Africa in November of last year.
He also skipped Madhya Pradesh’s Ranji Trophy final league game. It is known that his right knee was giving him trouble, and that this was caused by the amount of labor he had to do throughout the domestic season.
It is known that he underwent one of his last fitness tests on Monday while undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
When Avesh Khan will join the LSG team was not announced, but it is anticipated that he will be eligible for selection for their upcoming game, their second away game, against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Hyderabad on March 27. The Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated LSG in their season opener in Visakhapatnam on Monday.
All of LSG’s key Indian fast bowlers have been dealing with injuries. While India and Bengal fast Akash Deep has not fully recovered from the back ailment he sustained during the Test tour of Australia, Mayank Yadav, who is recuperating from a lumbar stress injury, also recently sustained a toe injury. Due to his inability to fully recuperate from the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) damage he sustained in December of last year, Uttar Pradesh left-arm fast bowler Mohsin Khan has already been ruled out of the 2025 Indian Premier League and will be replaced by Shardul Thakur.
