As part of the England Champions team for the forthcoming World Championship of Legends, which will take place at Edgbaston in July 2025, Alastair Cook has declared his intention to return to competitive cricket.
Alastair Cook will rejoin with his longtime friend and white-ball legend, Eoin Morgan, who will captain the England Champions in this esteemed international competition. Cook said goodbye to international cricket in 2018 as England’s top Test run scorer.
“It is great to be back playing for my country,” Sir Alastair Cook stated, expressing his pleasure. Being back on the field with Eoin and the other guys is something I am very excited about.
“The World Championship of Legends is providing the chance to be back involved with cricket at its best,” he continued, thanking everyone for the opportunity. I’m very excited!
The World Championship of Legends will benefit greatly from having a player of Sir Alastair Cook’s caliber join the competition, said Harshit Tomar, the organization’s founder and CEO. Without a doubt, his legendary status will improve the competition and greatly benefit the England Champions squad.
Harshit Tomar went on to say, “Sir Alastair Cook decision to rejoin cricket via the WCL platform demonstrates the tournament’s growing prestige and appeal to cricket icons worldwide.”
The England Champions’ owner, Praveen Sharma, expressed his pleasure in the team’s bolstered roster, saying, “This is more than just a team announcement—it’s history in motion.” England Champions, led by Cook and Morgan, are poised to dominate the WCL.
“Having Alastair back is not just about cricket, it’s about camaraderie, history, and creating new memories,” said Captain Eoin Morgan, welcoming Alastair Cook with open arms. We are honoring the game, not merely playing it.
“We are thrilled to witness Sir Alastair Cook’s return to international cricket through the World Championship of Legends,” said Nishant Pitti, Chairman, Founder, and Chief Patron of WCL, in addition to celebrating this historic occasion. His involvement, along with that of other cricket greats, is a wonderful fit with our mission to sponsor elite athletic events that delight millions of fans around the world.
A team already full of champions gains even more brilliance with Alastair Cook comeback.
With 161 Test matches, 12,472 runs at an average of 45.35, and 33 hundreds over his career, he cemented his place among the greatest players of all time.
By rekindling rivalries, restoring team legacies, and recreating the magic of cricket, the World Championship of Legends keeps its commitment to provide cricket fans worldwide with the opportunity to watch their idols tread the field once again.
