Darcie Brown to sit out final T20I against New Zealand due to family emergency

On Wednesday, March 26, Australia Women (AUS-W) will play the series finale in Wellington’s Sky Stadium. Due to a family situation, standout pacer Darcie Brown will be returning home via plane, therefore the visitors will be missing a few players in the last game.

Against New Zealand Women (NZ-W), Brown played well in the first two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). He recorded statistics of 1/22 in the first game and 2/23 in the second. In two games, she has claimed three wickets at an average of just 15. After Annabel Sutherland, she is the most economical bowler in the series with an economy rate of just 5.26. Sutherland was named Player of the Match in the most recent game and presently leads the two games in wickets taken.

Cricket Australia (CA) has stated that no replacement will be made for the last match of the T20I series, despite the fact that there has been significant debate regarding Darcie Brown’s replacement, according to ESPN Cricinfo. The Australian women’s team has already won the series after defeating their Tasmanian rivals handily in both games.

Choosing the starting lineup for the last T20I is a difficult one.

Other players will not be available for the third Twenty20 International, so Darcie Brown’s absence is not the only blow for the visitors that could affect Australia Women’s prospects of winning a clean sweep. Vice-captain Ashleigh Gardner’s retirement following a thumb injury sustained in the opening game was another major setback.

Charli Knott, an up-and-coming off-spinning all-rounder, has taken her spot, but she hasn’t yet participated in a game in the series. The management may think about bringing back Megan Schutt, who was rested in the second game of the series, given Brown’s absence and the lack of a replacement.
