MS Dhoni denies IPL retirement reports, saying, "CSK will drag me even if I'm in a wheelchair."

During the popular team’s latest practice sessions, former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni was spotted in a superb touch. Despite not playing any franchise cricket, it appears that he never stopped playing. Notably, Dhoni’s retirement from the IPL has been a mystery every season since he announced his departure from international cricket in August 2020.

Many people question whether Dhoni’s final season as a player could occur after each cumulative year. With his announcement of retirement, the star player hasn’t disappointed his admirers, though. ending the speculation that he will leave the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) at the end of the current campaign. The renowned athlete stated that he would continue to play in the league for as long as he wanted prior to CSK’s game versus MI. Dhoni made the amusing assertion that CSK’s management will drag him to play even though he is in a wheelchair.

“I can play for CSK for as long as I want. My franchise is that. In a recent interview with the JioHotstar broadcasters, MS Dhoni stated, “They’ll drag me even if I’m in a wheelchair.”

A few weeks back, Dhoni showed up to the IPL 2025 practice session wearing a T-shirt bearing a mysterious message, sparking speculation. ‘One Last Time’ was hinted at in the caption, which fans interpreted as being in Morse code. Fans began to worry about CSK and Dhoni’s IPL futures as a result. Dhoni was questioned as usual about if 2025 will be his final season in the top cricket competition.

MS Dhoni retirement discussions

Without wasting any time, MS Dhoni gave the broadcasters and supporters his word that he would not be leaving the league anytime soon. The 43-year-old asserted that the management and supporters would pressure him to continue playing even if he decided to quit. Dhoni played with a knee injury during the second half of the 2023 Indian Premier League.

MS participated in the IPL 2024 even though he wasn’t fully fit. Dhoni played in 2024 and 2025 despite not retiring after winning the title in 2023. The IPL 2025 opener between CSK and MI is scheduled for March 23 in Chennai.
