Throughout his career, Sachin Tendulkar has amassed 100 international hundreds and hit a ton of runs against every team under all circumstances. But he has a special place in his heart for one century in particular—his very first ton.
Three years after making his debut at the age of sixteen, he scored his first century against England in 1990. In addition, he won Player of the Match after scoring 68 runs in the opening inning.
Sachin Tendulkar saved the Manchester Test for India by coming in at six and remaining undefeated at 119.
Which of his international centuries stand out? That’s a difficult one. However, I would claim that my 1990 match against England was my first century in international cricket. We were in a difficult situation, and I was only 17. I felt like I belonged at the top level after that innings, which gave me confidence,” Sachin Tendulkar said backstage with Boria.
His double hundred against South Africa in Gwalior in 2010 is another memorable century. In One-Day Internationals (ODI), he became the first player to ever score two hundreds.
“Another special one was my double century in ODIs against South Africa in 2010 – becoming the first to reach that milestone was special,” said the 51-year-old.
In addition to several other records in international cricket, Tendulkar is the record holder for the most runs in Tests (15,921) and ODIs (18,426).
