Ahead of the 2025 Indian Premier League, Sunrisers Hyderabad recruited all-rounder Wiaan Mulder to replace the injured Brydon Carse. Carse was sidelined following the Australia match after aggravating a toe ailment during England’s Champions Trophy campaign.
During the white-ball series in India, 29-year-old Carse, who was signed by SRH at his base price of INR 1 crore, experienced a flare-up of his long-standing left toe problem. After the injury was temporarily treated, he played in the team’s Champions Trophy opening match against Australia, where he gave up 69 runs in seven overs. His injury then got worse, and he was forced to miss the rest of the tournament.
Wiaan Mulder, his successor, took six wickets in three games while playing for South Africa in the Champions Trophy.
He had gone unsold at the auction after enlisting himself at a starting price of 75L. He will be playing in the IPL for the first time. On March 23, SRH, the runners-up from the previous season, will play the Rajasthan Royals at home in the afternoon to start their IPL 2025 campaign.
