Tim Robinson of New Zealand dismissed Shadab Khan with a magnificent flying catch at point, displaying athleticism akin to Glenn Phillips’.
This incident happened on Sunday, March 16 at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch during the opening Twenty20 International match versus Pakistan. The visitors’ problems worsened after the dismissal, as they lost the first game of the series 11–4.
Shadab Khan returned to the national team and batted at No. 5, however he failed to make an impression. After an outstanding opening spell from Kyle Jamieson and Jacob Duffy, he took the crease in the third over with his team behind 1-3.
The batter made a spectacular catch by diving full stretch, something the Blackcaps are increasingly doing. Similar acrobatic catches in this region have been made by Glenn Phillips, who in the 2025 Champions Trophy dismissed Virat Kohli and Muhammad Rizwan.

Following Shadab Khan’s departure, Pakistan lost four wickets in 4.4 overs and were limited to 11. In doing so, Jamieson claimed his third wicket and concluded the Pakistani innings with a remarkable three wickets from his four overs while conceding only eight runs.
The top-order collapse brought on by New Zealand’s seamers was difficult for Pakistan to recover from. With 32 runs, Khushdil Shah was the top scorer and one of just three batters to score in double figures. After 18.4 overs, the Men in Green were bowled out for a mere 91.
In retaliation, Tim Seifert and Finn Allen, the openers for New Zealand, formed a 53-run partnership for the first wicket during the powerplay. Then, with over nine overs remaining, Tim Robinson made a brief appearance to complete the chase.
