One of the most fervent and expressive players on the field has always been the famous Indian cricketer Virat Kohli. The 36-year-old striker, however, recently disclosed how his composure and ferocity have become talking points. Since he has no idea what people anticipate from him, Kohli jokingly acknowledged that he has stopped listening to outside comments.
The right-handed batter has never held back from showing his feelings over his career, whether it be through vocal outbursts, fervent celebrations, or expressive reactions. Kohli has, however, shown a far more composed demeanor in recent years. This shift has drawn attention, and some people are now doubting his sincerity. The man, who was born in Delhi, responded that he was unsure of what needed to be done.
Additionally, they are not pleased with that. To be honest, I have no idea what to do. My peacefulness is a problem now, whereas my hostility was an issue before. At the RCB Innovational Lab Indian Sports Summit, Kohli remarked, “I don’t really focus on it because I don’t know what needs to be done.”
He clarified that he had an aggressive attitude by nature, which occasionally caused him to act inappropriately on the field. He emphasized, meanwhile, that he always had good intentions and wanted to see his team thrive.
“Yes, I do tend to go overboard because of the type of person I am and the personality I possess. And I have never been afraid of that. However, the starting point has generally been of care, but occasionally it may not have been sent with the best intentions. I want this to be a successful event for my team. The reason for my celebration when we get a wicket in a close game is because of this. Because, sure, this is exactly what must occur, I think. And that’s how I portray it,” he continued.
I’m still as competitive as ever: Virat Kohli
The seasoned batter also talked about how his celebratory approach has changed over time. His priorities have changed, even though he used to show his feelings often.
“It may not have been something that many people could have processed. It always comes from the right place, though, for me. Naturally, it puts me in a different position when I’m hitting. Because I don’t have any regular, little events to look forward to. After all, completing the game is the ultimate objective. Yes, I may then portray it in the same manner as before. Once more, things with me are unfolding organically. Naturally, it’s tapering down,” Virat Kohli continued.
He also emphasized that despite his tempered hostility, people find it difficult to comprehend how his competitiveness has not altered. According to the 36-year-old, it’s not always essential to act aggressively.
“My level of competition has not decreased. Therefore, I believe that many people find it extremely difficult to comprehend how competitiveness will be at the same level if aggression is not. You can still be aggressive in your head, but you don’t have to act out of irritation every now and then, which I have had recently as well. To be honest, I don’t feel good about such things myself, so it’s not a good thing,” he said.
