India recently won the Champions Trophy for the first time in twelve years, thanks in large part to the renowned Virat Kohli. For the 18th consecutive season, he will play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025).
After assisting India in winning the T20 World Cup in June of last year, Virat Kohli announced his retirement from T20I cricket. The Delhi batsman did, however, recently discuss a situation in which he would play just one match in the shortest format again.
The United States of America’s Los Angeles is scheduled to host the 2028 Olympics. After 128 years, cricket is scheduled to make a comeback. If the Men in Blue make it to the finals of the quadrennial competition, the former captain of India stated that he could come out of retirement because he would love to add an Olympic medal to his already spectacular trophy cabinet.
“India may consider coming out of retirement for that one game if they make it to the 2028 Olympic final. “It would be amazing to win an Olympic medal,” Virat Kohli remarked during the Innovation Lab Indian Sports event.
Virat Kohli wasn’t one of the most athletic players in Indian cricket when he first appeared on the scene, though.
The 36-year-old is still among the world’s fittest cricket players. Speaking about what motivated him to start this fitness journey, Kohli stated that he realized that increasing his level of fitness will enable him to succeed more on the field. But the right-handed batter had to convince his mother that he wasn’t getting sick from his training regimen.
“After a few difficult tours, I noticed that the boys were staying on the field longer than us, and that’s when I started to change. From the perspective of the team, it wasn’t difficult, but persuading my mother was. She believed I looked ill. I assured her that I was not ill and that everyone was talking about my training techniques. I thought I could do things much more effectively,” he continued.
In the 2025 IPL, Virat Kohli will be coached by Rajat Patidar. At the IPL 2025 mega auction, the team paid INR 21 crore to keep the former. Kohli will like to win an elusive first IPL championship with the Bengaluru-based squad after assisting his team in winning the Champions Trophy earlier this month.
