Naseem Shah and Babar Azam are not participating in the National T20 Cup.

Twenty teams will compete in the competition, split into four groups. Notable players include right-arm bowler Naseem Shah and Pakistani star batsman Babar Azam. It turns out, though, that the two-star team’s hectic overseas schedule will prevent them from attending the tournament. Due to their exclusion from the T20I team for the forthcoming series against New Zealand, this was also meant to be an opportunity for them to demonstrate their value in the shortest format.

With the conclusion of the Champions Trophy and the arrival of T20 fever, as Indian supporters await the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pakistani players are preparing for the National T20 Cup before the Pakistan Super League starts. Some of the Men in Green’s senior and up-and-coming players will compete in the T20 Cup, which begins on March 14.

Babar has an excellent record in T20I, however in his last 11 games, he has not scored a half-century. His most recent T20I match was in December 2024. However, in the last ten games he has played, Naseem Shah has only managed to take 10 wickets, demonstrating mediocre results in the format.

The terrible Champions Trophy campaign of Pakistan

The two also competed in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which was held by the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan, however they fell short of the fans’ expectations. Babar was dismissed cheaply against bitter rivals India and could only muster one slow half-century against New Zealand. After finishing bottom in Group A of the elite event, Pakistan was eliminated from the competition as a result of the two losses, and their consolation match against Bangladesh was also cancelled due to rain.

Speaking of Naseem Shah, he was unable to contribute to the tournament either, taking just two wickets in the few games he played. His best stats were 2/63, with an economy of 5.55 and a high average of 50.
