Bangladesh’s national selection panel has praised pace bowler Taskin Ahmed for his tenacity and diligence by placing him in the A+ bracket for their projected 22-member central contract for 2025.
At their most recent meeting on February 3, the directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) were presented with the recommended draft of the list of central contracts.
The board reverted to the universal grading system by bracketing the players into five categories—A+, A, B, C, and D—instead of the previous Test, ODI, and T20I divisions in order to recognize top achievers for the central contract, according to the draft that Cricbuzz was able to view.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Litton Kumar Das, veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim, and Test and ODI captain Najmul Hossain Shanto were all assigned to the A category.
The B category, which also contains Towhid Hridoy, Hasan Mahmud, and Nahid Rana, is occupied by seasoned campaigners Mominul Haque, Taijul Islam, Mahmudullah, and Mustafizur Rahman.
Soumya Sarkar, Jaker Ali Anik, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Shoriful Islam, Rishad Hossain, Tanjim Hasan Sakib, Mahedi Hasan, and Shadman Islam are all in the C category.
Khaled Ahmed, a pacer, and Nasum Ahmed, a left-arm spinner, are in the D category.
It is known that the board debated whether or not to award Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah a central contract, which is why they did not immediately accept the list.
In the past, BCB has maintained that both seniors must perform if they hope to qualify for the ODI World Cup. While Mushfiqur has not yet retired from the two longer formats of the game, Mahmudullah has already withdrawn from Test and T20Is and is now focusing solely on ODIs.
