Delhi’s capitals Women are prepared for the third edition of the WPL. Due to a last-minute error, the team lost the trophy to Royal Challengers Bengaluru after an amazing 2024 season. They were the most feared club in the league stages and had won six of their eight games heading into the playoffs.
Because they set challenging targets and were easy to chase, their batting in particular was their strongest suit. Delhi would be keen to repeat the feat this year, but with a different outcome, if they prevail in the decisive match. Jonathan Batty, the DC’s head coach, stated that the team’s experience from the previous season—specifically in Delhi and Lucknow—helped them a lot and that it was lucky to have access to these wickets before the WPL 2025, which begins on February 14, begins.
We’ve been quite lucky over the past two years because we’ve played on some excellent wickets and seen some intensely competitive, high-scoring games. We’re just taking each game as it comes, assessing the circumstances along the way. We were extremely lucky to have access to practice facilities in Pune, where we could use wickets composed of red and black soil. We’re trying to cover everything, so we don’t really know what we’re going to find,” Batty said, according to News18.
“This wicket at Kotambi Stadium is fantastic. The latest series played here by the Indian women (versus Ireland) was obviously quite high scoring. From that vantage point, I expect the wickets to be exceptional. As is often the case with cricket, you have to assess those conditions before you go the field, and you try to do it beforehand,” he added.
