Champions Trophy 2025: BCCI mandates new guidelines 'non-negotiable'

The updated travel and disciplinary rules for the Indian cricket team have been formally distributed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The updated SOPs pertaining to family members, nets, travel, luggage allowances, etc. have been distributed to all players.

According to earlier accounts, the BCCI told the players that the established norms were “non-negotiable” during the just finished third ODI of the series against England in Ahmedabad. Today, it was established that the rules will take effect immediately. R. Devraj, the Champions Trophy 2025 touring manager, is reportedly in charge of enforcing rules.

Its main objective, according to the administrative body, was “to establish guidelines that promote discipline, unity, and a positive team environment while ensuring professional standards and operational efficiency during tours and series.”

The players have made it clear that the BCCI takes the SOPs very seriously, and there is no turning back now.

A team source with knowledge of the development informed the same sports media outlet, “The BCCI is very strict about this rule.”

The 10-point instructions were notably issued following India’s devastating defeat by Australia in the 2024–2025 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. It is believed that one of the primary reasons the BCCI acted quickly was the flurry of internal disputes within the setup over team composition and the reported discord among the side.

In a few days, India will depart for Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. On Thursday, February 20, they will play their opening match against Bangladesh. In Group A of the prestigious ODI event, they are grouped with Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Pakistan.
