'He will be fine'- Alyssa Healy on Starc's withdrawal from ICC Championship Trophy

Mitchell Starc, the Australian cricket team’s star pacer, has chosen to skip the ICC Champions Trophy for personal reasons, which has caused a significant setback. Alyssa Healy, his wife, has reassured supporters that Starc is doing well and will be fantastic. He has bowled a lot, she added, particularly after participating in the most recent Sri Lankan tour.

“Don’t look at me, I don’t know anything about it, I haven’t asked him about it yet,” Alyssa Healy said in jest when asked about Starc’s decision on the Willowtalk podcast.

Healy firmly denied any rumours of a serious injury while acknowledging concerns about his condition and concentrating on the fact that the left-arm bowler only needed a respite following months of nonstop bowling.”Everyone, he is doing fine. More significantly, I’m all right. She smiled and said, “Yeah, we are fine, move on.”

Healy herself, meanwhile, is expected to miss the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) because of an injury. Australian selector George Bailey also took note of Starc’s absence and fully supported his choice. “We accept and comprehend Mitch’s choice. Because of his dedication to international cricket and his emphasis on playing for Australia, Mitch is highly regarded,” Bailey added.

Bailey commended Starc’s dedication to the national team, despite the fact that it cost him other opportunities, and acknowledged his history of playing through injury and dire circumstances.

“His well-established capacity to persevere in the face of hardship and pain, as well as his decision to prioritise his country over other career options, should be commended. Although his defeat is obviously a setback for the Champions Trophy campaign, it also gives someone else a chance to leave their mark on the competition,” Bailey said.
