Twitter Reactions: Shubman Gill lights up Ahmedabad with brilliant Ton vs England in 3rd ODI

Together with Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill stitched a 116-run stan to claim the second wicket. Despite missing a well-earned hundred in the second ODI, the right-hander batted with determination in Ahmedabad.

On February 12, India and England faced off in the third ODI at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. England won the toss and encouraged India to bat first. Within the second over, captain Rohit Sharma was sent back to the pavilion.

He faced the English bowlers and built his innings by hitting singles and doubles along with opportune boundaries. As he approached the triple-figure mark, the young batter, who had spent much of the game in the middle, appeared apprehensive. This was his sixth ODI century, which he achieved in the 32nd over. Additionally, it was his seventh century at Narendra Modi Stadium.

On his way to his historic century, the hitter from Punjab hit three maximums and fourteen fours. As Gill attempted to play a sweep shot, spinner Adil Rashid eventually scooped him up and cleaned him up with a wrong ‘un. With 223 runs scored in 34.3 overs, India was in a strong position when he left in that position.

Gill’s exploits in Ahmedabad also made him the fastest player in terms of innings (50) to reach seven ODI hundreds and the first Indian player to score a century in the 50th ODI.

Hundred at a venue in all three formats

Faf du Plessis – Wanderers, Johannesburg
David Warner – Adelaide Oval
Babar Azam – National Stadium, Karachi
Quinton de Kock – Supersport Park, Centurion
Shubman Gill – Motera, Ahmedabad

Shubman Gill is the real deal in white ball cricket. A century before the Champions trophy is great News for indian cricket. There will be lots of worried bowlers in this Champions trophy. #INDvENG
