David Warner, the star opener for the Dubai Capitals, spoke before of the ILT20 final about his team’s will to win the trophy following their successful tournament run, which included three wins over their finals opponents, the Desert Vipers, whom they will again face in the finals.
“Everyone is excited from the background staff to the GMR owners and the players performing on pitch,” Warner, who has played a key role in the Capitals’ run to the final, said in reference to the team’s overall enthusiasm and aspirations. We’re hoping to win the trophy this year after coming so close last year.”
Warner was cautious while discussing the team’s prior wins over the Desert Vipers, saying, “The worrisome part is when you’ve beaten them a couple of times. That momentum may occasionally falter. I hope it doesn’t occur so we can keep up our form.
David Warner also noted possible benefits for his squad by analysing the opposition’s recent adjustments and Desert Vipers’ strengths:
“Their captain may not play due to a minor hamstring injury. A key member of their gang, Wanindu Hasaranga, has also left them for Sri Lankan international duty. We must take early wickets and adhere to our fundamentals and game plans because they have a formidable batting lineup.”
Warner underlined the significance of keeping up their current momentum and pointed out that fielding was a key component of their tournament success. “We’ve been chasing strong totals, making good runs, and playing some nice cricket. We’ve been bowling quite well. For us, it’s about making sure we’re off to a great start and having the proper mindset and energy.”
The Afghan all-rounder Gulbadin Naib’s efforts to the team’s win were also commended by the Australian veteran: “Gulbadin has grown from strength to strength.” These wickets are a little slow and low, but he’s adjusted to them nicely. He plays a significant role for us, and with one more match left, we should be able to win the title.”
“Every player is very good in World Cups, Champions Trophies, and tournament play,” Warner said in response to a question concerning the Australian national team’s forthcoming Champions Trophy campaign without Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood. No matter which players they start, the Australian squad knows how to win and be successful.
