An outstanding moment occurred earlier in the match when Ben Duckett was well-set out of Harshit Rana’s bowling by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s outstanding running-behind catch.
The first ODI of the three-match series between India and England is scheduled for February 6, 2025, at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. Jos Buttler, the captain of England, won the toss and chose to bat, and the visitors got off to a fast start before India rallied with some vital wickets.
India went into the match having defeated the same opponents 4-1 in the T20I series. The ODI caps were given to Jaiswal and Rana prior to the toss. However, Virat Kohli’s knee injury forced him to miss the game, which was a blow to the team. Philip Salt, England’s opener, had handed the country an early lead by scoring 26 runs off of just one over from Rana. He was dismissed, though, after attempting a third run in Hardik Pandya’s over. KL Rahul’s astute glove work and Shreyas Iyer’s deft fielding allowed Salt to leave for 43 off 26 balls.
Duckett tried to control the visitor’s innings after Salt left, but Jaiswal’s incredible effort defeated him. The short-pitched delivery from the Delhi-born bowler in the tenth over generated extra bounce and forced the southpaw to make an uncomfortable pull shot. The ball sailed high in the air behind midwicket after taking the top edge.
Keeping his eyes on the ball as he ran, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was positioned at midwicket, made a spectacular catch by timing his dive perfectly.
In a spectacular display of teamwork, the two rookies sent the English opener back for 32 off 29 balls.

Harry Brook is dismissed by Rana in the same over.
Rana recovered remarkably after struggling at first, giving up 37 runs in his opening two overs. Harry Brook was removed for a duck by the speedster in the same over that Duckett was dismissed. After Brook was pushed into an awkward position by a well-bowled bouncer, Rahul was able to comfortably grab a glove that was down the leg side. At 77/3 under 10 overs, the tourists were having trouble after this wicket.
