For the first ODI of the three-match series against India, the Three Lions have revealed their lineup. On Thursday, February 6, the game will take place at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur, and it will mark the long-awaited return of star batsman Joe Root to One-Day competition.
Root will finish the top-order in the unit, and the visitors have kept the opening combination, similar to the T20I series, in which they lost 1-4. Harry Brook, who hasn’t proven himself in the format under subcontinental circumstances, will be at number four. Jos Buttler, the captain of England, will bat at number five, although it is unclear what his responsibilities as a wicketkeeper will be. It is reasonable to suppose that Salt will be assigned to fill in for him.
All-rounders Liam Livingstone and Brydon Carse will handle the lower-middle order, while Jacob Bethell is anticipated to play the position of finisher with the bat and Carse will also be responsible as a pacer.
