Please keep playing this style, but don't play like England! Bazball or whatever, the template is wrong, Ashwin commented on YouTube.

Ravichandran Ashwin advises India to be a bit conservative approach in T20s

Following their World Cup win in 2024, India’s T20I lineup was largely redesigned. Three veterans, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja, also retired from the game. The younger generation has assumed critical positions, and Suryakumar Yadav has been named the full-time captain.

Their success rate is unaffected by this, though. When it comes to their game, India is actually enjoying a lot more aggressive approach, and the results have been outstanding.

Players like Abhishek Sharma played an attacking style of cricket, which helped the team score a lot of runs for the recent 4-1 series victory by the Indian side. Numerous experts have praised the new strategy, but recently retired legendary off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin cautioned the team against over-reliance on the strategy while endorsing this cricketing style, citing England and their Bazball tactics, which have gained a lot of popularity among youth.

“I read that Gambhir wants the team to score between 240 and 260 points each game. This strategy is one that I support. My recommendation for Gambhir Gambit is to continue playing this style, but please don’t play like England! “The template isn’t correct, regardless of what you call it,” Ashwin stated on his YouTube account.

“You could see them grinning yesterday (Sunday) even though their hitters were getting out to convey that they are okay with this strategy. Playing reckless cricket and aggressive cricket are two different things. India is currently playing aggressive cricket. But I don’t like England’s style,” he continued.

In addition to giving the Indian team advice, the renowned cricketer commented on the England team’s strategy and the controversy surrounding the use of Harshit Rana as a concussion substitute, which the England team found problematic. The players’ strategy was nonetheless questioned by the 38-year-old.

Should I be England, I would be really concerned. They are losing more than they are winning, but Bazball is doing okay. It’s a really important issue. You can argue that attritional cricket is outdated, but you can’t ignore it. This is dubious thinking. Although they were furious that Harshit Rana had been brought in as a concussion substitution, they also dismissed Shivam Dube in the fifth Twenty20 International. So what is the difference? They have a point to prove,” Ashwin said.
