IND vs ENG 2025: Arshdeep Singh is India's highest wicket-taker in T20Is, with scalps in successive overs

At the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Arshdeep Singh struck twice in his opening two overs in the opening Twenty20 International of the five-match series against England, making him the top wicket-taker for India in Twenty20 Internationals. Before the series began, he had 95 dismissals. Yuzvendra Chahal, who has 96 wickets, was at the top of the statistics.

It took little time for the left-arm bowler to get among the wickets. Arshdeep produced significant mobility through the air and was able to pinpoint with his channels in the game’s opening over. His powerplay numbers were further amplified as a result. In the opening six overs of the opposition’s innings,

Arshdeep Singh has taken more wickets than anyone else since his debut (42 wickets in 60 innings).

Only Sanju Samson was able to get a leading edge on the third delivery of the game, which landed awkwardly on Phil Salt off a short-of-a-length. India’s leader in the format was Arshdeep, who took out Ben Duckett in his very next over.

Below is the list of leading wicket-takers for India in T20Is:
Player Innings Wickets
Arshdeep Singh 61 97*
Yuzvendra Chahal 79 96
Bhuvneshwar Kumar 86 90
Jasprit Bumrah  69 89
Hardik Pandya 98 89
A two-wicket over from Chakravarthy makes England’s suffering worse.

Although their openers left cheaply, England had 61 runs on the board at the seven-over stage and were in a reasonably good position. But Varun Chakravarthy’s second over was the one that put the visitors behind.

In the course of three deliveries, the furniture of Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone were disrupted. Specifically, the dismissal of the latter was a perfect delivery. As of this writing, the hosts are ahead of England, who are 74/4 at the half.
