Sri Lanka women's cricketers' fees increased in a significant move
The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket has made a monumental and exceedingly welcome decision to boost the match payments of Sri Lanka women players from the current US$250 to US$750 for the year 2023.

This move is a result of the board’s ongoing efforts to empower women cricketers and improve the overall sport in the country.

Sri Lanka women Cricket makes a significant effort to empower female cricketers.

“During a meeting held on January 31, 2023, the Executive Committee of Sri Lankan Cricket resolved to increase the match fees of the National Women’s Players for the year 2023. Therefore, match payments for both white-ball cricket formats have raised from $250 to $750 each match, per player “14 February 2023, Sri Lanka Cricket issued a press statement informing the public.

In a public statement, Sri Lankan Cricket emphasised its desire to achieve equity and parity between its male and female players, and what better way than to attempt to do so financially, since the women cricketers will then be able to realise their greatest aspirations on the international arena. A determined effort will also be made to empower the Sri Lankan women cricketers through their financial independence.

As if tripling the match fees per player wasn’t enough, Sri Lanka Cricket noted in its news release that for every single match the team wins, whether in bilateral or international events, the board will reward each player with a USD 250 winning bonus.

“Furthermore, for each match won by the team, whether in a bilateral or international competition, each player will get a US$ 250 winning bonus,” stated the announcement.
In their present Women’s T20 World Cup campaign, the Sri Lanka women’s side has won two consecutive matches, first against hosts South Africa and then against Bangladesh.
