Reports: Virat Kohli set to miss Delhi's next Ranji Trophy match due to neck sprain

In Test cricket, Indian batsmen are currently having a difficult time. They appeared powerless against the Kiwi spin onslaught during the New Zealand series, which marked the beginning of the battle. In Australia, things did not go well since previous cricket players and commentators criticised their shot selection and strategy. Throughout the series, Virat Kohli, who scored a century in Perth, in particular, appeared shady by getting dismissed to balls outside of off stump.

Beginning on January 23, the Ranji Trophy 2024–25 season will resume. Afterwards, a number of veteran cricket players encouraged the Indian hitters to participate in the domestic competition, as this could aid in their recovery. According to rumours, Kohli will not play for Delhi in the second leg of the first-class championship due to a neck sprain.

Virat Kohli received an injection to treat his neck sprain.

He might skip the first of the final two Ranji Trophy matches, and if the DDCA selectors receive an update, a clear picture may emerge,” a source told The Times of India.

A new policy is created by BCCI.

All international players should play domestic cricket, according to a new guideline issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on January 16. The guideline also states that playing domestic cricket is crucial for national team selection.

“According to BCCI regulations, players must play in domestic matches in order to continue being eligible for central contracts and selection in the national squad. By ensuring that players stay involved in the domestic cricket ecosystem, this approach promotes talent development, preserves match fitness, and fortifies the domestic system as a whole. According to one of the policy’s points, “It also encourages young players by giving them chances to play with elite cricket players, guaranteeing continuity in talent progression.”
