Reports: No hairstylists, cooks, or personal security guards to be allowed on trips after revised BCCI rules

The Indian team's poor Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 performance prompted these modifications.

Reports: No hairstylists, cooks, or personal security guards to be allowed on trips after revised BCCI rules

In order to promote player discipline and general professionalism, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has implemented a number of updated regulations. After India’s poor showing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25, where they lost against Australia 1-3, several adjustments were made.

Recent Test cricket results for India have been especially dismal. For experienced players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who have had a difficult time, the period has been difficult. While Kohli amassed 190 runs in nine innings, Rohit averaged only 6.20 runs over five innings in Australia. Kohli was frequently dismissed by outside-off-stump deliveries.

Travel and the presence of personal staff are subject to stringent regulations as a result of the BCCI’s new criteria.

It will no longer be permitted for players to go on international tours with personal chefs, hair stylists, or security personnel. Additionally, the board has prohibited players from travelling independently during practices and games and requested that they always travel with the squad.

There have also been stricter guidelines for family members on tours. The families of players may travel with them for a maximum of 14 days on international tours that last longer than 45 days. This allotment is lowered to one week for quicker travels. By taking these steps, players can reduce outside distractions and stay focused on cricket.

When players miss domestic cricket matches, the BCCI is also making difficult decisions. Senior board members advise against charging players match fees for withdrawing from domestic competitions without good cause. Remarkably, players like Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal were spotted training with their respective state Ranji teams after the board requested that Indian players play domestic cricket.
