The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season saw the selection of Shreyas Iyer as the new captain of the Punjab Kings (PBKS). On Sunday, January 12, the Bigg Boss television reality show made the announcement. In addition to Iyer, additional PBKS members Yuzvendra Chahal and Shashank Singh participated on the broadcast.
The special “Weekend Ka War” program was hosted by Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who was there when the announcement was made.

The IPL 2025 mega auction in November 2024, Shreyas Iyer was purchased for a record INR 26.75 Cr.
He was the captain of the IPL 2024 champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Chahal, who spent the previous three seasons of the wealthiest cricket league with the Rajasthan Royals (RR), was purchased by the team, which is partially owned by Bollywood star Preity Zinta, for INR 18 Cr. The Kings acquired Shashank Singh, one of the IPL 2024 season’s discoveries, for INR 5.5 Cr.
