Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma's ICC Test rankings takes hit as Test slump continues

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, two of India’s best batsmen, are struggling in Test cricket. The cricket fans haven’t seen their typical style of batting on the pitch since the T20 World Cup 2024 ended in June. Regarding the current Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Kohli has only made one century, and that was in the opening Test. Since then, he has not scored fifty or more.

However, Rohit Sharma only managed to score about 30 runs in five innings, continuing his poor batting trend. Their ICC Test rating has suffered greatly as a result of their difficult period. After a dismal Australia tour, Rohit is now in 40th place with 560 ratings, while Kohli has fallen to 24th place with 633 ratings.

Regarding Virat Kohli performance in the last ten Test matches, he has amassed 417 runs at an average of 24.52 over 19 innings.

In the three games of the current series against Australia, Rohit has only amassed 31 runs. Although Kohli was predicted to do well in the Melbourne Test, the right-handed batsmen scored five runs and thirty-six runs in each innings. After back-to-back hundreds in Melbourne and Brisbane, Steve Smith, another batter who was having trouble returning to form, is currently ranked sixth with 763 ratings.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Indian team’s daring opener, has moved up one spot to fourth place in the ICC Test rankings for hitters, which is fantastic news for the squad. Yashasvi scored two runs of 80 or more in both innings of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, demonstrating his continued skill with the bat. Joe Root, an experienced hitter for England, has held onto his top ranking of 895.
