AUS vs IND 2024-25: India have their 'nose ahead' going into Boxing Day Test, says Ravi Shastri

Up to now, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25 has been an incredible competition. Right now, the series is tied at one. India dominated the hosts by 295 runs in the first match of the series in Perth, but Australia rallied to win the pink-ball Test in Adelaide by 10 wickets. The fourth Test was crucial because the previous one in Brisbane finished in a tie.

In the meantime, former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri recalled his tenure as captain and underlined India’s current psychological edge.

Given the way the series is set up, I believe India would win. Given that the games are being played in Perth, Adelaide, and Brisbane, any foreign team would accept a 1-1 draw. When Boxing Day arrives, the best-case situation is to go 1-1. I think India has a significant advantage. “We always played very hard, fairly, and to win,” Shastri said in an interview with news.com.au, even when I was the coach.

Depending on the outcome of the Boxing Day Test, the series will proceed as follows: Ravi Shastri

Shastri underlined that India must play for their own sake and not only to survive, which he believed the team did well in the first three games.

“You must not only compete; you must devise a strategy to defeat Australia. You must adequately strategise how to take your 20 wickets. India has been extremely aggressive in doing so. They received the best treatment possible after being in Australia’s face. It has been feisty, entertaining stuff. India has the upper hand. According to Shastri, the outcome of the series will be decided on the first day of the Boxing Day Test.

India has not always had a very pleasant hunting field in the MCG. In their 14 games played here, India has suffered eight defeats. Their success in the 2020–21 season, when they won by eight wickets to record a remarkable comeback in that series, will give them confidence, though.
