For the fourth and fifth Test matches against India in Melbourne and Sydney, the National Selection Panel (NSP) has selected a men’s squad of 15 players. With two games remaining, Australia and India are tied for first place in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
Notably, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy caravan (BGT 2024-25) continues on to Melbourne. At the renowned Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), also known as “The G,” the two teams will square off. The start date of the fourth Test is December 26.
The forthcoming match will also be an annual event hosted by Cricket Australia. For those who are unaware, the “Boxing Day” Test is the next test. A 15-man squad for the rest of the series was announced by hosts Australia prior to the special Test match.

Sam Konstas receives his first call-up for a national test.
Beau Webster and Sean Abbott rejoin the team. Jhye Richardson is now a member. Sam Konstas receives his first call-up to the national team. Nathan McSweeney was not selected.
The team gives us choices about how to set up the starting lineup for the series’ last two Test matches. For the first time, Sam is called up to the Test team. He bats differently, and we’re excited to see how his game continues to advance. We still believe Nathan has the skills and disposition to be a successful Test player in the future. George Bailey, the Chair of the Selectors, stated that it was a tough choice to exclude him.
We want to give the option of a different lineup for the next two games since it has been evident that it has been difficult for batters to bat at the top of the order throughout the series. Jhye offers more options in the fast bowling space when Josh Hazlewood is not available. His excellent comeback during the first few days of the domestic summer has been pleasing,” he said.
