Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir announces retirement

Mohammad Amir, the star of Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy campaign, declared his retirement from international cricket on Saturday. A day after Imad Wasim announced his retirement, the pacer took this action. Wasim and Amir both played in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which was played in the USA and the West Indies.

Mohammad Amir has played in 36 Test matches, 61 ODIs, and 62 T20Is since making his debut in June 2006. In all formats, he has amassed 1179 runs and taken 271 international wickets.

The left-arm bowler gained notoriety for his valiant performance against India in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, winning with figures of 3-16. Amir dismissed Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma during the summit match.

After announcing his retirement in 2021, Mohammad Amir changed his mind and declared that he would be available for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

“Playing for Pakistan in all three formats has been an immense privilege. “I understand that this is a tough choice, but I believe that now is the ideal moment for the next generation to step up and lead Pakistan cricket to new heights,” Amir stated in a statement released by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

In addition to looking forward to seeing the team succeed, I would want to thank the PCB for always providing much-needed assistance over the years. “I also want to express my gratitude to the Pakistani fans for their unwavering support throughout my career,” he continued.
