On the short ball tactics, Australia’s captain Pat Cummins received a flawless response from India’s top batsman, Shubman Gill. Ahead of the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25, which would take place at the Gabba in Brisbane, the Indian batsman responded forcefully to the Australian skipper.

“I don’t think they were successful in using the short-ball tactics (against us) in Australia’s victory over India. Only one batter, excluding the tail-enders, has been hit by the short ball. Accordingly, I have no idea what success he (Cummins) is referring to,” Gill stated at the news conference on Friday, December 13.
