Australia names team for U19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025

A squad of 15 players has been selected by the Youth Selection Panel (YSP) for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, which will take place in Malaysia early in the following year. Caoimhe Bray, 15, was selected for her maiden World Cup squad after making impressive performances for Australia against Sri Lanka and New Zealand earlier this year.

In September’s tri-series in Brisbane, Bray was the youngest player in the Australian Under-19 team. He scored 84 (76) and took 4-20 as the team defeated New Zealand by 119 runs at Ian Healy Oval. Chloe Ainsworth, Maggie Clark, Lucy Hamilton, Eleanor Larosa, and Kate Pelle, who participated in Australia’s 2023 T20 campaign in South Africa, have all been chosen for their second ICC Under 19 World Cups.

Of the fifteen players chosen, fourteen have senior domestic experience, having participated in T20 Spring Challenge, WNCL, or WBBL games. Tegan Williamson, 16, is another member of the team. Although he will be touring as an underage player, he is still eligible to be selected for the 2027 event. This week’s Under 19 National Championships in Perth led to the finalisation of the squad.

In January and February, Malaysia will host the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, and Australia, Bangladesh, Scotland, and Nepal are all in Group D.

The Super Six stage and finals will take place after all of Australia’s group matches begin on January 18 at UKM YSD Oval, which is located on the southern outskirts of Kuala Lumpur.

Cricket. Australia’s Under-19 team will be coached by Kristen Beams, National Development Lead for Australia. There will be a captain selection before to the World Cup.

Sonya Thompson, Cricket Australia’s Head of National Development, said: “It’s been wonderful to see the amount of talent on display at this year’s Under 19 Female National Championships. We’ve seen some fantastic individual performances, and I’d like to congratulate NSW Metro on their win.

“We’re excited by the level of talent in the World Cup squad, which includes many players who have experience in senior domestic cricket environments. The Under-19 World Cup provides players with an exceptional development opportunity, and we look forward to watching the team play in Malaysia. The National Youth Selection Panel worked closely with State Talent Managers to select the World Cup Squad, with consideration is given to performances across a variety of competitions, including the T20 Spring Challenge, WNCL, Weber WBBL, International U19 series as well as the National Championships.

“Inevitably, there were difficult selection decisions, but we will continue to support and monitor the development of all players in our pathway systems.
