Travis Head's ability to take games away from opposition is super impressive: Pat Cummins

On Sunday, December 8, Travis Head was aptly named Player of the Match in the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test series. In Australia’s opening innings, the southpaw hit an incredible century to give the world Test champions a 157-run advantage. India was dismissed for 175 in the second innings, with Pat Cummins taking the lead with a five-for.

Cummins celebrated Travis Head thrilling 140 from 141 balls, which included 17 fours and four sixes, after he had tied the five-match series 1-1.

The seasoned seamer emphasised Travis Head aggressive style, claiming that it has helped The Baggy Greens win games in all forms.

“Every time he leaves, it seems like the game is kind of in the balance, and it could go either way. But, in the course of a session or so, he really takes the game away from them (India), and he just puts pressure on the opposition again, hits into strange places, and he feels like there’s a chance to up the ante and once more take the game away from them. During the press conference after the game, Cummins remarked, “He’s done it time and time again for us in many different formats and, yeah, he’s super impressive.”

The umpire swiftly intervened, and Pat Cummins ended the match.

Cummins was careful not to infer too much from Head and Mohammed Siraj’s verbal exchange. The 31-year-old played it down, stating that such incidents occur during high-stakes matches and that the umpires quickly defused the situation.

It’s hot, you see. It’s a significant series. You know, there have always been large crowds. Many things depend on it. According to Cummins, the altercation between Head and Siraj ended when the umpire intervened.
