‘Door is open, BCCI medical team is monitoring him’- Rohit Sharma on Mohammed Shami's availability for Australia series

In the second Test of the series against Australia in Adelaide, the Indian bowling unit had a difficult time. Despite Mohammed Siraj’s four in the first innings, no other pacers were useful save for Jasprit Bumrah. Australia scored 337 runs in the first innings as a result of him and Harshit Rana being hammered in the middle. The Indian squad was under pressure after that, as their hitters failed to deliver, leading to a 10-wicket loss.

Mohammed Shami was the subject of a lot of chatter during the game, particularly when the Indian pacers were having trouble. Captain Rohit Sharma was questioned about the pacer’s availability for the rest of the series after the game. The 37-year-old added that the BCCI medical section is keeping an eye on him and that the team management will call once Shami is judged well.

“Certainly. The door remains firmly open. We’re keeping an eye on him. In SMAT, he experienced minor knee swelling. He pulling up in a match is not something we want to happen. We want to be certain. We don’t want to put him under any pressure. The BCCI medical staff is keeping an eye on him. We will listen to what they have to say. We must exercise caution. During the news conference, Rohit stated, “The door is open.”

We anticipate shared accountability: Rohit Sharma

The pacers must improve in the final three games if India is to win the series. Bumrah has been excellent, and skipper Rohit has always looked to him when the team was having problems. However, the team management must also control his workload. Rohit Sharma talked about the significance of shared responsibility and the value of other players stepping up.

“Having someone like Bumrah is great, but he’s not the only one who can finish the job. Other bowlers are also present. We’re excited about shared accountability. That is what everyone knows,” Rohit said.
