AUS vs IND: Jasprit Bumrah escapes potential injury in Adelaide Test

India (IND) and Australia (AUS) continued their second Test match of the BGT 2024-25 (Border-Gavaskar Trophy) at the Adelaide Oval on Day 2, with the visitors trying to bundle the hosts in an effort to cut the margin as little as possible. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah led the charge in pursuing this, selecting Steven Smith and Nathan McSweeney up front. There was a Bumrah injury scare right as India was trying to regain their lost rhythm.

As the second session came to a close, the standout Indian bowler was bowling the match’s twentieth over. He was walking back to his mark after bowling the third ball when he appeared to be experiencing adductor muscle pain. The team’s physiotherapist hurried over to treat Bumrah as soon as it became apparent that he was in pain.

Jasprit Bumrah was spotted bowling with his typical flair shortly after the procedure. In order to break the hitters’ momentum during the T20 World Cup 2024 final, Rishabh Pant tried stopping the game. The strategy was successful. However, given that Bumrah was rested for the series against Bangladesh in order to give him enough recovery, the slight pain in his case may perhaps be true.

Jasprit Bumrah needed to retrain his mind: Glenn McGrath

Bumrah, who is regarded as being at the top of his game, got a few words to say from Australian legend Glenn McGrath. McGrath stated that the 31-year-old has “retrained” himself to reach his current position, but that the process was “not easy.” He has been in terrific condition.

“When I first saw Jasprit, he had a nice pace, but his behaviour was entirely different. He came in with a short run-up and bowled quickly, but he had a huge jump-out. I kind of advised that he should go through the crease, but he was unable to do so. He played that way, but I believe he had a knee issue after that. Glenn McGrath was quoted by Hindustan Times (HT) as saying, “He had to train himself to go through the crease when he came back.”

He had to retrain himself, which is difficult, but now he runs straight through the crease, arm right behind the ball with that pace, and skids it into the stumps. I’m not claiming any credit at all for that. He is undoubtedly a handful,” he continued.
