'I just want to be in the playing XI'- KL Rahul ready to bat at any position to feature regularly

KL Rahul is an experienced Indian batsman who has played a variety of positions. Although the 32-year-old has batted in five different positions in Test cricket, he has not yet established himself in the game’s longest format. Despite his poor form, which led to his dismissal during the first Test match against New Zealand in Bengaluru, the team management supported him, particularly considering his statistics in away Test matches.

Rahul was able to get back into the swing of things by opening the batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first Test in Perth, which was made possible by skipper Rohit Sharma’s absence. He and Jaiswal stitched a 201-run partnership in the second innings, which helped the visitors win by a huge 295 runs. However, there are once again questions about the Karnataka batter’s position in the order now that Rohit is expected to return for the second Test in Adelaide.

Although he did not disclose his batting position, the Bengaluru native stated on Wednesday, December 4, that he will play in the second Test match in Adelaide. To be a reliable player in the starting lineup, the cricketer stated that he is willing to bat at any number. Rahul also disclosed that he used to get upset when he had to change jobs a lot in his career, but that he now manages it much better.

“All I want to do is make the starting lineup, bat, and play for the team.” In a given scenario, I simply go there and try to figure out what I need to do to earn runs. I’ve fortunately batted in a variety of positions. I had some mental difficulties in the beginning when I was asked to bat at various positions. First 20 to 25 balls: how should I play? At what point can I launch an attack? “Those issues were a problem earlier, but with experience playing in different formats, it has gotten easier,” Rahul stated during the press conference.

KL Rahul doesn’t have any experience playing Pink Ball

Rahul’s first Pink Ball Test match will be at Adelaide, which is noteworthy. Speaking to other seasoned players about how to adapt in the centre, he addressed that issue and stated that one needs to follow the ball closely because it performs a different function than the red ball.

My first pink ball Test match will be this one. I lack the gaming experience that some of the other team members possess. All that needs to be done is talk to the guys and find out what they struggled with and how they fixed and changed things. “I thought it was a little different in practice in terms of how you watch this ball,” Rahul remarked.
