'My best is yet to come'- CP Rizwan hopes for national return after impressive D50, county stint

CP Rizwan, an accomplished hitter from the United Arab Emirates, recently declared his desire to participate in the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa. The 36-year-old has scored 323 runs in 18 T20Is and 948 runs in 42 ODIs.

At the end of the November 22 Emirates D50 2024 tournament, Rizwan was the top run scorer. At an incredible average of 170.5 and a strike rate of 86.67, he amassed 325 runs from five games. Under his direction, Sharjah Bukhatir XI placed third in the standings. The Tellicherry native hopes that his efforts as the team’s captain and batsman will enable him to return to the national squad.

Being the top scorer in the Emirates D50 national championship while representing Sharjah makes me very delighted. I’m hoping this will help me return to the national team, you know. First and foremost, I want to compete in the 2027 World Cup, which will be held in South Africa. CP Rizwan told exclusively, “I’m working hard on that.”

By exercising hard lately, Rizwan claimed to have increased his talents and level of fitness. He claimed to be excited about the difficulties that lie ahead.

“I have put a lot of effort into honing my talents and body. My best is definitely not yet here. “I’m eager to face the challenges that lie ahead,” he continued.

My county experience gave me confidence. CP Rizwan.

As he scored three hundreds while playing for Gloucestershire in the County Championship, Rizwan attracted a lot of attention and had a great time at bat. The cricket player claims that his run in the Emirates D50 competition, together with his county spell, has given him some confidence.

“I scored three hundreds there as well, and I had a fantastic season there as well. playing for Gloucestershire as a professional abroad. So I was over there playing Premier Division. So, my time there was really beneficial. As a bowler, I took wickets and averaged 170.5 in the Emirates D50. I am therefore very confident. I’m certain I can do more for the national team, and I’ll undoubtedly be a major factor in many upcoming triumphs,” he said.
