The Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024–25) first Test saw India defeat Australia handily. The second Test, a Pink Ball Test in Adelaide, will begin on December 6 and pit India against the hosts. Now leading the five-match series 1-0, they were scheduled to play a two-day warm-up match against the Prime Minister’s XI at Canberra’s Manuka Oval starting on Saturday, November 30, before the pivotal second Test.
To play the visitors, the Australian Prime Minister selects the PM XI side. Currently serving as the PM chair, Anthony Albanese recently hosted Team India at the PM’s office. In addition to some well-known players who will fight valiantly for victory, the team’s main goal is to give up-and-coming Australian talented athletes a chance.
Originally scheduled to be an ODI match, this match has been played in red-ball fashion since 2022. Notably, PM XI’s custom of playing a visiting team dates back to 1951.
India’s Canberra visit game is postponed due to rain.
Since the beginning of the day, there has been continuous thunder and rain, suggesting that the weather is not ready for the game to start. In Canberra, the match was set to start at roughly 2:00 PM. It would be interesting to see if the weather allows India to get ready for the day and night Test. The constant rain prevented the toss from taking place; at approximately 2:40 PM (AST time), the weather forecast indicated a 100% likelihood of rain with an intensity of about 12 mm.
