All eyes have been on the second Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024–25) after India’s resounding victory in the first Test. The Australians did not do well with the ball or bat, even though they bowled India out for 150 in the first innings.
Star batter Marnus Labuschagne was one of the main questions following the first test. In the two innings of the Perth Test, he did not perform well and only managed two and three. Michael Hussey, a former cricket player for Australia, took center stage and encouraged Labuschagne to resume his scoring ways despite a slump in his game. Following his analysis of the batter’s technique, he also shared his notes.
“I really went back and looked at some of his best innings from a few years ago. We’ve been seeing this for the past week or so, so I wanted to see if I could see anything different. Hussy.
When comparing the most recent Test match against India to when he was playing really well and scoring a lot of runs, there isn’t much of a technical change. His will to score is the main distinction I’ve seen. Hussey continued, “I’m a senior player now, so I have to take responsibility, bat time, be there for the team, soak up the pressure, and all of that.”
“Be a little more positive with an intent to score,” Michael Hussey said in reference to Labuschagne’s batting performance.
Additionally, Michael Hussey discussed how Labuschagne may finish improving his batting form. According to the former Australian great, the Marnus only needs to change his perspective to one that is more optimistic when he bats.
“If he could only get over the idea that he’s only trying to fill the crease… “I’m going to do whatever I do with confidence, decisiveness, and a little more positivity with the goal of scoring,” Hussey said in closing.
