The International Cricket Council (ICC) is now in the process of making a significant decision on the 2025 Champions Trophy. With India’s involvement in doubt, the hosting arrangements for the event may be decided at the next board meeting on November 29.
The Indian government would not allow the national cricket team to visit Pakistan due to the ongoing diplomatic dispute between India and Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made clear. Tensions have arisen because of this. Pakistan was initially chosen to host the event in 2021. Significantly, the Indian board has been requesting that the event be held using a “Hybrid” paradigm.
Nonetheless, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), under the leadership of Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, has asserted its position and insisted on holding the tournament in three Pakistani cities: Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi.
It will be a virtual meeting.
The hosting rights for the tournament will be discussed at the next virtual board meeting. According to, The ICC leadership, three Associate members, an independent director, and representatives from 12 Full Member nations will all be present at the conference.
The gathering will mark the last board meeting for departing ICC Chairman Greg Barclay, who will be replaced on December 1 by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.
India might be able to play their matches in a neutral location without having to go to the host country, Pakistan, according to a hybrid concept that the ICC has previously proposed.
India is the only team that has expressed reservations about playing in Pakistan, according to the PCB, which has been keen on holding the tournament there. Even said, there is still a lot of ambiguity around the eight-team ODI competition, which was initially planned to take place between February 19 and March 2025.
