Reports: ICC to announce Champions Trophy fixtures amidst BCCI-PCB scheduling issues

The 2025 Champions Trophy schedule is expected to be announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) this week, amid a dispute between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on the tournament’s hosting arrangements.

A report from the Hindustan Times claims that the ICC is completing talks with the host country and participating members over the tournament scheduling.

“In Pakistan, we will win the Champions Trophy and meet our goal. No one is having any issues, and every team that has qualified for the Champions Trophy—aside from India—is prepared to visit Pakistan. Even now, I will tell reporters that India should speak with us if they have any concerns,” PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said.

The situation has gotten challenging when the BCCI formally notified the ICC that the Indian team will not be traveling to Pakistan for the event, which is currently set to take place from February 19 to March 9, 2025, at locations in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi.

Naqvi, meantime, is emphatic about holding the tournament in Pakistan throughout, rejecting the hybrid plan that would set up a neutral venue for India’s matches.

“Any issues they may have will be resolved. The Indian squad can visit Pakistan to win the Champions Trophy, in my opinion, for whatever cause. When you wait, every team will arrive. We have a pretty clear viewpoint. It was previously told. Our position will not change. ICC is required to make the tournament schedule public. So that we may begin making preparations in accordance with the schedule, we are awaiting its announcement. Our preparations will begin as soon as the schedule is revealed,” he continued.

Reports from Pakistani media indicate that the PCB may withdraw from the event if it is either transferred outside of the nation or held using a hybrid model, indicating that the situation has reached a critical turn. Following controversy surrounding
