Following the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous tournament, the keeper-batter had a heated conversation with owner Sanjiv Goenka, which is thought to have affected their relationship. Dhruv Jurel, a young player, performed admirably for India A in the unofficial Test match against Australia A. Many veteran cricket players urged the team management to consider Jurel for the inaugural.
