Steve Smith, the star batsman for Australia, has said he has faith in captain Pat Cummins. Following a significant issue involving Tim Paine that rocked Australian cricket, the express pacer was given the baton. Although there were concerns about a pacer being elected captain, the 31-year-old has performed admirably, winning the 2023 Ashes and defeating India in the World Test Championship Final.
Steve Smith said he has done a fantastic job for the squad and has the support of his teammates while discussing the voyage under Cummins.
In addition to pointing out that Cummins is cool, collected, and laid back, which benefits the team atmosphere, he recalled Australia’s recent success.
“Hasn’t he done a fantastic job? (For) the previous two years. We are obviously a very talented team, and he has been supported by some extremely good players. We have also been playing good cricket. “He’s done a fantastic job so far, and hopefully that continues,” Smith said in response to a question via Star Sports. “He’s come into the role nicely, and he’s calm, composed, and very relaxed.”
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is scheduled to start on November 22 and Smith will bat at number four. Smith, who had made 171 runs in four games, stated that he wanted to bat at the top after David Warner resigned from Test cricket, but his move was unsuccessful. The team management wanted him to return to the middle order before the five-match series against India, when Nathan McSweeney was chosen to be Usman Khawaja’s partner.

Australia has not yet begun their preparations for the series. On the other side, India set up camp at WACA on November 12. Players like KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Yashasvi Jaiswal were seen training; the remaining players are anticipated to arrive on November 13.
