Mohammad Nabi to retire from ODIs after Champions Trophy 2025

Afghanistan’s best all-round player, Mohammad Nabi, is scheduled to retire from ODIs cricket following the conclusion of the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan, which is a significant move for the sport. The development was confirmed by Naseeb Khan, the chief executive of the Afghanistan Cricket Board.

It is noteworthy that Nabi has played a significant role in Afghanistan’s ascent to prominence in the sport. In 165 ODI appearances, the 39-year-old has scored 3549 runs at an average of 27.3 runs while playing for his nation.

In addition, he has claimed 171 wickets during that time. He has made an unparalleled contribution to Afghanistan cricket, and his retirement will undoubtedly be missed. Nabi acknowledged that he will be retiring from ODI, but he will still play in T20Is, according to Naseeb Khan, who took center stage in the discussion.

“Yes, Nabi told the board that he wanted to retire from ODIs following the Champions Trophy. We applaud his decision to retire from ODI cricket after the Champions Trophy, as he informed me a few months ago. According to Naseeb Khan, “I understand that he is expected to continue his T20 career after the Champions Trophy, and that has been the plan up to this point.”

Afghanistan will play Bangladesh in the second ODIs.

In terms of cricket, Afghanistan is presently playing Bangladesh in an ODI series. On November 6, the first ODI between the two teams took place in Sharjah, where Afghanistan put on a strong show and won by a commanding 92 runs.
