The franchises’ deadline to reveal their retentions proved to be a very exciting day. The first rush of excitement that the cricket community experienced was a half-hour extension. Many were taken aback when the team chose to continue using all-rounder Hardik Pandya as their captain for the 2025 Indian Premier League season. This follows a turbulent 2024 season in which MI finished at the bottom of the points table for the second time in 17 years, recording their joint-lowest position.
According to Hardik, one of MI’s five retainees, he would remain captain, dispelling widespread accusations that the team didn’t want him to captain us. Collectively, we recall 2013, 2015, 2017, ’19, and ’20. I believe that all of our supporters are aware of what transpired throughout those years, and we will return in 2025 with even more vigour.
