‘I don't think I would retain any players’- Tom Moody reflects on Punjab Kings' potential retentions

The IPL (Indian Premier League) 2025 blockbuster auction is drawing near quickly. The Punjab Kings are one of the teams hoping to keep their top players. The ten franchises will have to submit their retentions before to the event. Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody recently spoke out regarding Punjab Kings’ possible retentions.

In a startling statement, Tom Moody said that Punjab Kings should not keep any of its players before the auction.

For Arshdeep Singh, Sam Curran, and Kagiso Rabada, the Australian suggested that PBKS consider using the RTM card rather than retention.

I don’t think I would keep any players for the Punjab Kings, especially not those with caps, but I would try to give guys like Arshdeep Singh, Sam Curran, and Rabada the choice to play whenever they choose. Another player I would think about utilising the right-to-match for in the auction is Jitesh Sharma, Tom Moody told Star Sports.

The left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar and the reliable middle-order power hitter Shashank Singh, who had an excellent season the previous year, are two excellent uncapped players he would like to acquire prior to the auction, he continued.

In the IPL 2025, Punjab Kings aim to get better.

The Punjab Kings will be expecting to perform well in the 2025 Indian Premier League. In 2024, the team had a poor season and has yet to win an IPL title. In the 2024 Indian Premier League, the team ended in ninth place and was unable to advance to the knockout stages.

Out of the 14 games played, Kings won five and lost the other nine. Second lowest in the standings with 10 points, PBKS will look to assemble a strong team for a successful IPL season by acquiring the finest players at the upcoming super auction.
