Babar Azam rested for Zimbabwe series, as PCB announces teams for multi-format tour

Recently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed their team for the white-ball trip of Zimbabwe. It is noteworthy that the Men in Green will play three ODIs against Zimbabwe before facing the team in three T20I matches.

It was noted when the squad was announced that star batsman Babar Azam had been rested for the trip to Zimbabwe. Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi have also been rested for

The Zimbabwe series, in addition to Babar Azam. Before the series in Zimbabwe, all three will be available for the trip of Australia.

When the PCB spoke up about the squad selection, it was revealed that the players’ domestic performances were a major factor and that Babar and other players who were left out adhered to the board’s strategy of frequent player rotations.

In an effort to strengthen their defence of the ICC Champions Trophy, selectors have chosen exceptional domestic players for the two tours. The team’s strategy for the ICC Champions Trophy and beyond is in line with this method, which also gives domestic performers opportunities and adheres to the selectors’ rotation policy’, the board said in a statement.

The board has been subjected to harsh criticism for the team’s recent performances. Following a recent home defeat to Bangladesh in a two-test series, Pakistan lost the opening Test of a three-game series against England.
