IPL 2025 auction will take place on November 30

A number of teams have almost confirmed how many players they will be keeping for the next Indian Premier League (IPL) season, which has made things more exciting. In the meantime, it has been reported that the final week of November will be the date of the forthcoming IPL 2025 Mega Auction. To put the players under pressure, the IPL Governing Council has selected November 30 as one of the preferred dates.

The Times of India reports that the auction will most likely take place in Dubai, which is in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Remarkably, the auction the year before was also held in Dubai, on December 19, 2024, in the Coca-Cola Arena.

In order to select their optimal playing combinations for the upcoming season, up to 10 clubs will compete in the auction. All of the team owners will be highly competitive in the bidding war because the auction is an opportunity for them to get their teams ready for the three upcoming seasons. The deadline for announcing retentions has been set as October 31.

3 Retentions for SRH; Steyn parts ways

Sunrisers Hyderabad, the previous edition’s finalists, are reportedly among the first to finalize their retentions, according to another report. According to the report, the Sunrisers have decided to retain captain Pat Cummins, wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen, and all-rounder Abhishek Sharma. Compared to last year, Cummins’ compensation has decreased by INR 18 crore, while the Proteas batter’s wage has increased by a staggering 338 percent.

SRH’s 2024 pace bowling coach, Dale Steyn, has announced on social media that he will not be retaining the role for the next season of the lucrative league. He will, however, continue to be linked with the franchise in its two-time champion SA20 squad – the Sunrisers Eastern Cape.

Announcing the cricket match. A great thank you to Sunrisers Hyderabad for my few years with them as bowling coach in the IPL, sadly, I won’t be returning for IPL 2025.

I will, however, keep playing for Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20 here in South Africa. On X (formerly Twitter), Steyn wrote, “We’re two-time SA20 champions. Let’s try (and) make it THREE in a row.”

Cricket announcement.

A big thank you to Sunrisers Hyderabad for my few years with them as bowling coach at the IPL, unfortunately, I won’t be returning for IPL 2025.
However, I will continue to work with Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20 here in South Africa. 🇿🇦
