Sajid Khan laments lack of chances after Multan heroics -'My performances used to be the finest but used to get dropped first'

When they visited Pakistan in 2023–24, they were defeated 0–3 by Australia. Players like Aamer Jamal and Sajid Khan showed signs of tenacity in the bowling department as the team suffered in Australia. Australia prevailed by eight wickets in the final match in Sydney, where Sajid took three wickets.

After that, the spinner was unable to play for Pakistan in either format until October 15, when they played England in the second Test match in Multan. Due to their poor form, Pakistan chose to rest important players and only use spin.

During the first innings, Sajid Khan took seven wickets while weaving a web around the batting-heavy England lineup.

The 31-year-old complained that he did not receive a significant run following his achievements in Australia.

“I was fired first, even though I used to give the best performances. Australia was the opponent in my last series. Against them at their home stadium, I bowled well. For no apparent reason, I was dropped from the next series. I was summoned in Australia because Abrar was hurt and Noman had surgery. I participated in the most recent game and did well. I didn’t have a chance against Bangladesh in the previous series, but I did in this one. The rest is just luck. According to Sajid, who was cited by Wisden, “I am trying to perform.”

Pakistan chose to bat first after winning the toss in the second Test. Following rookie Kamran Ghulam’s 118-run innings, the home team amassed a respectable 366 runs.

England was wrapped up for 291 runs after Sajid’s seven-fer and Noman Ali’s three wickets turned them over. When they started their batting on Day 3, Pakistan had a respectable 75-run advantage.
